29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:   Employees were exposed to amputation and struck-by hazards. Employees engaged in machining activities in the fabrication/milling area at the Walker - Turner Drill Press, were exposed to amputation hazards in that machine guarding was not provided.  29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.

29 CFR  1910.215(a)(4): Work rest(s) on grinding machinery were not adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one eighth inch:   Employees engaged in machining activities including sharpening the drill bits at the 10" Black & Decker Ball Bearing Bench Grinder located in the Fabrication/Milling area were exposed to caught-in hazards in that the work rest opening was not maintained at a maximum of one-eight inch. The work rest was found to be approximately seven-sixteenths inch away from the grinding wheel.  29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.

29 CFR  1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch:  Employees engaged in machining activities including sharpening the drill bits at the 10" Black & Decker Ball Bearing Bench Grinder located in the Fabrication/Milling area were exposed to struck-by hazards in that the distance from the abrasive wheel to the adjustable tongue guard was found to be approximately 5/16 and 9/16 inches.  29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
