29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4)(i): Procedures were not developed, documented and utilized for the control of potentially hazardous energy when employees were engaged in activities covered by this section: a) 35140 County Rd 125, Sidney, MT: On or about January 27, 2021, and at times prior, employees were exposed to chemical burns from the unexpected release of stored hazardous chemical energy (liquid Lime) while performing maintenance operations including, but not limited to, clearing a clogged drain line on a slurry tank, without establishing and utilizing procedures for the process.

29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i):The employer did not provide adequate training to ensure that employees acquired the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage and removal of energy control devices: a) 35140 County Rd 125, Sidney, MT: On or about January 27, 2021, and at times prior, employees were exposed to chemical burns from the unexpected release of stored hazardous chemical energy (liquid Lime) while performing maintenance operations including, but not limited to, clearing a clogged drain line on a slurry tank. The employer failed to ensure employees were trained on procedures for the isolation of stored energy prior to performing maintenance operations.
