29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Steelhead Composites at 500 Corporate Circle Ste. O Golden, CO 80401: On or before 2/19/21 the employer did not protect employees from injury in that the McClean Anderson spin former [serial: WMS-3-4-3M-FLEX] was not guarded in accordance with this standard. Guards were removed from the front of the machine where the operator stood, near the point where the spin former rotated. This condition exposed employees to struck by and amputation hazards. (b) Steelhead Composites at 500 Corporate Circle Ste. O Golden, CO 80401: On or before 2/19/21 the Ryobi drill press [model: DP102L, serial: 1407-0-9059] was not equipped with a guard. The drill press was used to drill holes in metal. This condition exposed employees to hot chips. (c) Steelhead Composites at 500 Corporate Circle Ste. O Golden, CO 80401: On or before 2/19/21 the Central Machinery drill press [model: 1039] was not equipped with a guard. The drill press was used to drill holes in metal. This condition exposed employees to hot chips. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item. See enclosed "Certification of Corrective Actions Worksheet."
