Portable electric equipment and flexible cords used in highly conductive work locations (such a those inundated with water or other conductive liquids), or in job locations where employees are likely to contact water or conductive liquids, shall be approved for those locations. On March 15, 2021, Ohio Aluminum Chemical, LLC did not ensure that a flexible extension cord submerged in water powering a water pump was approved for the location. Employees were exposed to an electrical shock hazard.

29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6): Workplace labeling. Except as provided in paragraphs (f)(7) and (f)(8) of this section, the employer shall ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace is labeled, tagged or marked with either: (i) The information specified under paragraphs (f)(1)(i) through (v) of this section for labels on shipped containers; or, (ii) Product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals, and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, will provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemical. a) On March 15, 2021, Ohio Aluminum Chemical, LLC did not ensure that a container of calcium stearate (eye and skin Irritant) was labeled tagged or marked with the identity and the hazards of the chemical. The material was being stored in a 35-gallon trash receptacle.

A list of hazardous chemicals is a component of the Written Hazard Communication program.
