29 CFR  1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use:   (a) Swift Beef Company,  800 N. 8th Ave. Greeley, CO 80631: On or before June 9, 2021 the employer did not provided employees with access to an eyewash station for immediate use. Employees working in the Hot Scale area have to walk through two doorways in order to access the closest eyewash station. This exposes employees to chemical burns from acids, including but not limited to, peracetic acid.   Abatement Note: ANSI Z358.1-2014, 5.4.2 states that eye washes must be in accessible locations that require no more than 10 seconds to reach. The eyewash shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit its immediate use. (See Appendix B5)

The employer did not train employees on the elements of this standard. The employer did not ensure that employees knew what a safety data sheet was, and how to locate safety data sheets. Employees use chemicals for  beef processing operations.   Chemicals in the workplace included, but were not limited, to the following:  1.  Peracetic Acid, (corrosive to eyes and skin, toxic, oxidizer), 2.  Lactic Acid, and (corrosive), 3.  Purac CL 21/80 (corrosive to eyes and skin).
