29 CFR  1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered:   A.)  Zekelman Industries, Inc. dba Wheatland Tube, 1 Council Street, Wheatland, PA 16161, zinc pot #2, on or about June 23, 2021 and times prior thereto:  An employee who was working at the south end of zinc pot #2 was sprayed with molten zinc when the molten zinc shot out of the south end of a pipe.  The employee sustained burns to the wrist.  The protective sleeves that the employee was utilizing were inadequate in that molten zinc melted through the elastic banding of the sleeve causing burns to the employee's wrist.    B.)  Zekelman Industries, Inc. dba Wheatland Tube, 1 Council Street, Wheatland, PA 16161, zinc pot #2, on or about June 23, 2021 and times prior thereto:  An employee who was working at the south end of zinc pot #2 was sprayed with molten zinc when the molten zinc shot out of the south end of a pipe.  The employee sustained burns to the torso.  The employee was not wearing thermal resistant apparel that would prevent burns to the torso.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below).  This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
