29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Shop - A Ryobi drill press did not have a guard at the point of operation. Employees are exposed to flying fragment hazards to the face and eyes.

29 CFR 1910.212(b): Anchoring fixed machinery. Machines designed for a fixed location shall be securely anchored to prevent walking or moving. Shop - A Ryobi drill press was not bolted down to the work bench to prevent it from moving. Employees are exposed to struck by hazards if the drill travels.

29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch. Shop, work bench: A Baldor bench grinder had a gap in excess of 1/4" between the tongue guard and the grinding wheel on the right side . Employees are exposed to laceration and impalement hazards.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer shall maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical, and shall ensure that they are readily accessible during each work shift to employees when they are in their work area(s). Shop - Employees used hazardous chemical products like flammable acetylene, fuels, and paint as well as Quikrete containing Silica and Portland cement. SDS's have not been made available to employees as required. Employees are exposed to physical and health hazards of these products.
