Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system. The employer is failing to protect employees from fall hazards while performing residential roofing activities. This was most recently observed at 17387 Reynolds St, Bennington, NE 68007, on August 16th, 2021, where the employer has two employees working directly adjacent to an unprotected roof edge that is 10 feet 9 and 1/2 inches when measured from the lower level.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1):When portable ladders are used for access to an upper landing surface, the ladder side rails shall extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder is used to gain access. The employer is failing to protect his employee from ladder hazards while performing residential roofing activities. This was most recently observed at 17387 Reynolds St, Bennington, NE 68007, on August 16th, 2021, where the employer has employees accessing and egressing a surface that is 10 feet 9 and 1/2inches above the lower level, with a ladder that is positioned in such a way that the ladder's side rails do not extend 3 feet above the landing surface.
