29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4)(i):Procedures were not developed, documented and utilized for the control of potentially hazardous energy when employees were engaged in activities covered by this section: 830 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA: On September 1, 2021 and at times prior, the employer had not developed an energy control procedure for the Do-all band saw which had two energy sources that needed to be isolated and locked. Employees who changed saw blades were exposed to machine hazards from not isolating and applying locks to the energy sources.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc: 830 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA: On September 1, 2021 and at times prior, employees who operated a Do-all band saw were exposed to the unguarded part of the blade from above the bottom of the guide rolls up to the existing adjustable blade guard.
