29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10):"Roofing work on Low-slope roofs." Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b) of this section, each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. Or, on roofs 50-feet (15.25 m) or less in width (see Appendix A to subpart M of this part), the use of a safety monitoring system alone [i.e. without the warning line system] is permitted. On or about September 2, 2021, during the installation of roofing material at a job site located at 810 Moe Drive, Akron, OH 44310; the employer did not ensure employees working on the roof of a commercial garage were protected from a fall of approximately 16.5 feet by utilizing a fall protection system(s). RJ KIRKLAND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY INC. DBA RJK Roofing Solutions was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (1926.501(b)(10) Duty to have fall protection), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1506308, citation number 01, item number 01 and was affirmed as a final order on 6/16/2021, with respect to a workplace located at 32916 Vine Stnull, Willowick, OH 44095.
