29 CFR 1910.1025(h)(1):All surfaces were not maintained as free as practicable of accumulations of lead: (a) Gun cleaning area; A gun cleaning mat was contaminated with lead. A face mask and plastic personal radiation detection block were also located on the lead contaminated mat. This exposes employees to potential lead ingestion hazards. *Please note that surfaces (other than glass or metal) are porous and gritty scrubbing cleaners (examples are Soft Scrub, Comet or Ajax) are sometimes needed to fully decontaminate the area from surface lead contamination. Customs and Border Protection was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1303755, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 20, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at Sumas, WA. Customs and Border Protection was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1246140, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on July 11, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at Friday Harbor, WA.
