29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i):When the employer had assessed the workplace hazard(s) and determined that hazard(s) were present, the employer did not select and/or use the types of personal protective equipment that would protect the affected employee from the hazard(s) identified: (a) Atlas Steel Products Co., on or about January 28th, 2022, at the location of 7990 Bavaria Rd, Twinsburg, OH 44087: The employer did not select the correct personal protection equipment for employees performing work in the mill area such as handling steel tubing while exposed to overhead struck by hazards. The employer failed to select and use head protection. (b) Atlas Steel Products Co., on or about February 17th, 2022, at the location of 7990 Bavaria Rd, Twinsburg, OH 44087: The employer did not select the correct personal protection equipment for employees performing work in the coil tubing staging area such as raising and lowering tubes with the 25 ton crane. The employer failed to select and use head protection.

(b) Atlas Steel Products Co., on or about February 17th, 2022, at the location of 7990 Bavaria Rd, Twinsburg, OH 44087: Employees' heads are exposed to potential struck by injuries while operating the 25 ton overhead crane to raise and lower coil bundles in the coil staging area without the benefit of head protection.

OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were potentially exposed to struck-by hazards from overhead loads being carried by the 5-ton Stacker Crane. Feasible and useful methods to correct the hazard include the following. - Provide effective training to operators on safe operation of the cranes to ensure loads are not carried above other employees. - Reassess the Personal Protective Equipment requirements for employees to ensure that potential overhead hazards are addressed sufficiently by engineering and administrative controls that would eliminate the need for hard hats or other head protection.�
