29 CFR  1910.1053(c): The employer did not ensure that employees were not exposed to an airborne concentration of respirable crystalline silica in excess of 50 ug/m3, calculated as an 8-hour TWA:  a) Chris Cutter, Venture Stone, Laurel MT: On or about November 23, 2021,  and at times prior, employees were exposed to airborne crystalline silica exceeding the permissible exposure limit of 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air while splitting stone. Personal air sampling performed for 453 minutes indicated an exposure at a concentration of 160.44 micrograms per cubic meter of air, approximately 3.2 times the permissible exposure limit. The exposures are based on an 8 hour time weighted average sampling period; exposure calculations included zero-increment for the 27 minutes not sampled.   b) Chris Cutter, Venture Stone, Laurel MT: On or about November 23, 2021,  and at times prior, employees were exposed to airborne crystalline silica exceeding the permissible exposure limit of 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air while splitting stone. Personal air sampling performed for 453 minutes indicated an exposure at a concentration of 142.51 micrograms per cubic meter of air, approximately 2.85 times the permissible exposure limit. The exposures are based on an 8 hour time weighted average sampling period; exposure calculations included zero-increment for the 27 minutes not sampled.
