29 CFR 1910.179(n)(1): Size of load. The crane shall not be loaded beyond its rated load except for test purposes as provided in paragraph (k) of this section. a) On or before 12/20/2021 employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard while using the Ace 20-ton crane with a Walker Magnet with a capacity rating of 6000lbs to move stators in and out of the liner before and after curing. After curing the stators would be at a temperature approximately 150 degrees, employees would utilize the magnet to remove the stators from the liner, this results in the magnet being heated up, which reduces the magnet's amperage, this resulted in the reduction of lifting ability. b) Employees were unable to read the amperage reading due to the readings being on the crane bridge which was approximately 50 ft. from the ground and the readout was approximately 2 inches to 3 inches in size.

29 CFR 1910.219(f)(1):Gears. Gears shall be guarded in accordance with one of the following methods: (i) By a complete enclosure; or (ii) By a standard guard as described in paragraph (o) of this section, at least seven (7) feet high extending six (6) inches above the mesh point of the gears; or (iii) By a band guard covering the face of gear and having flanges extended inward beyond the root of the teeth on the exposed side or sides. Where any portion of the train of gears guarded by a band guard is less than six (6) feet from the floor a disk guard or a complete enclosure to the height of six (6) feet shall be required. a) On or before 12/20/21 the drive gears located at ground level were not properly guarded to protect employees from a caught in hazard when standing on or near the gears while in the process of moving the liner out of the Vacuum Impregnating Chamber.
