29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Superior Precision Sheet Metal Corp. dba Micro Metals, Inc.: On or before 1/19/22 the employer did not protect employees from injury in that a Bridgeport manual mill [serial: 2J70053-2] was not equipped with a chip guard. This condition exposed employees to hot flying chips. (b) Superior Precision Sheet Metal Corp. dba Micro Metals, Inc.: On or before 1/19/22 the employer did not protect employees from injury in that a Baldor belt sander [model B23A, cat no: 2048-151D-B] was not equipped with a guard where the belt and wheel come into contact. This condition exposed employees to ingoing nip points. (c) Superior Precision Sheet Metal Corp. dba Micro Metals, Inc.: On or before 1/19/22 the employer did not protect employees from injury in that an Acer Dynamic manual lathe [#1740G] was not equipped with a guard in the chuck area. This condition exposed employees to flying hot chips and amputation hazards. (d) Superior Precision Sheet Metal Corp. dba Micro Metals, Inc.: On or before 1/19/22 the employer did not protect employees from injury in that a Kaltenbach up-cut radial saw [model SKL 400, serial: 100665] was not equipped with a guard or other method of protecting the operator from the rotating exposed blade. This condition exposed employees to amputation and laceration hazards. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is not required for this item.
