29 CFR 1910.29(b)(3): The employer did not ensure that guardrail systems are capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 200 pounds (890 N) applied in a downward or outward direction within 2 inches (5 cm) of the top edge, at any point along the top rail. a) Rocky Mountain Air Solutions, 104 E 4th Street Rd, Greeley, CO 80631: On 1/28/2022, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected against fall hazards while working on the loading dock on the east side of their facility at a height over four feet. The installed guardrail systems had several areas where the metal had rusted through and completely severed, creating areas that could not withstand 200 pounds of outward force without failure.

The employer did not ensure that handrails and the top rails of stair rail systems are capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 200 pounds (890 N) applied in any downward or outward direction within 2 inches (5 cm) of any point along the top edge of the rail: a) Rocky Mountain Air Solutions, 104 E 4th Street Rd, Greeley, CO 80631: On 1/28/2022, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected against fall hazards while utilizing the stairs on the loading dock located on the south side of their facility at a height over four feet. The installed handrail systems had several areas where the system had broken away from its anchor points, creating areas that could not withstand 200 pounds of outward force without failure.
