29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) HOMAG edge bander; on or about April 11, 2022, employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-in hazards where the employer allowed for the interlocks protecting three separate equipment guards (doors) to be defeated in support of production. b) HOMAG edge bander; on or about April 11, 2022, the operators were exposed to struck-by and caught-in hazards where the employer allowed for the metal guarding to remain removed from inside of the snipping motor cabinet in support of production.
