29 CFR  1926.200(g)(1): Construction areas were not posted with legible traffic signs at points of hazards:  a) On April 19, 2022 and times prior the employer did not provide traffic control signs or other protective devices for employees in a three way intersection while they were adjusting underground water service valves at various locations in and around the intersection, exposing them to the hazard of being struck by vehicles. 29 CFR  1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person prior to the start of work, or as needed throughout the shift, for evidence of a situation that could result in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, or other hazardous conditions.  a)  On April 19, 2022 and times prior the competent person on site did not conduct inspections throughout the work shift to adequately evaluate the changing scope of work and conditions of an excavation where employees worked to install a new a commercial water line.  Protective systems were not used as the excavation depth ranged from 5.7 to 6 feet deep.    Knife River Corporation - Northwest was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1242651, Citation number 1, Item number 2a, and was affirmed as a final order on August 24, 2017, with respect to a workplace located on Cameron Street in Kellogg, ID.  Knife River Corporation  was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1358224, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on April 4, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 3rd Avenue & Main Street in Lava Hot Springs, ID.  Knife River Corporation  was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number  1523458, citation number 2, item number 2a, and was affirmed as a final order on October 25, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at Franklin Road and Cloverdale, Boise, ID .    Note) Competent person for this sub part means one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings, or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them. Knife River Corporation, dba Knife River was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1358224, citation number 1, item number 1b and was affirmed as a final order on April 4, 2019, with respect to a workplace located on 3rd Avenue and Main Street in Lava Hot Springs, ID.
