29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c). a. On or about May 9, 2022, at the above addressed jobsite, an employee performing water main upgrade activities in a trench, seven (7) feet six (6) inches in depth, was not utilizing cave-in protection, thereby exposing the employee to cave-in hazards. b. On or about May 9, 2022, at the above addressed jobsite, an employee performing water main upgrade activities in a trench, six (6) feet six (1) inch in depth, was not utilizing cave-in protection, thereby exposing the employee to cave-in hazards. Construction by Camco, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1401458, citation number 1, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on July 24, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 8755 State Route 71 in Yorkville, Illinois.
