OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from amputation hazards when cleaning the Jorestech Thick Liquid Piston Filler, model 1000-D:  a) On or about June 7, 2022, and at times prior,  procedures for cleaning the Jorestech 1000-D Tabletop Thick Liquid Piston Filler were not in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines. Employees cleaning the machine were exposed to moving parts where the machine was not deenergized prior to removing the hopper to access the rotary valve inside the main filling cylinder.   The manufacturer's operation manual for this unit states, "Always disconnect power and air supply before servicing, changing accessories or cleaning the unit."
