29 CFR 1926.100(a): Employees working in areas where there is a possible danger of head injury from impact, or from falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns, shall be protected by protective helmets. On or about June 23, 2022, at jobsite located in 4324 Lacebark Ln., Naperville Il 60564, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while on the lower level when workers above were engaged in roofing activities, such as shingle tear off and installation of new shingles. Head protection were not being utilized while employees engaged in this activity. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. On or about June 23, 2022, at jobsite located in 4324 Lacebark Ln., Naperville Il 60564, employees were exposed to fall hazards in excess of 15 feet while engaged in residential roofing activities. Fall protection was not being utilized while performing roofing activities. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1):The employer shall provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards. The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards. On or about June 23, 2022, at jobsite located in 4324 Lacebark Ln., Naperville Il 60564, the employer failed to ensure that employees had been trained to recognize and minimize fall hazards. Employees were exposed to fall hazards in excess of 15 feet while performing roofing activities on a residential structure without using fall protection. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
