29 CFR  1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.   On or about June 27, 2022, BAM Contracting LLC employees were working on the fifth-floor deck of an apartment complex being constructed at 2200 Lasalle Street in Saint Louis, Missouri. The foreman and two employees were  working without guardrails, safety nets, or personal fall arrest systems while working near an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8m) or more above a lower level. The two employees were wearing personal fall arrest systems but were not tied off to the structure.  BAM Contracting LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1345365 citation number 2, item number 1, issued on 9/27/2018 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/19/2018, with respect to a workplace located at 100 Winghaven Pointe Drive in O Fallon, Missouri.
