29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or before August 12, 2022, on extruder line 1 before the laser printer, guards were not in place to prevent employees from the in going nip point of the yellow wheel and a metal roller. b. On or before August 12, 2022, on extruder line 1, the laser printer did not have a top guard in place to prevent employees from reaching into the work area where the laser printer burned the labels on the rubber. c. On or before August 12, 2022, on extruder line 1, there were two open areas where the product goes from one hot air channel to a second one, with no guards in place to prevent employees from the in going nip points and other moving parts. d. On or before August 12, 2022, on extruder line 2 after the printer, guards were not in place to prevent employees from the in going nip point of moving orange wheel and a fixed metal block. e. On or before August 12, 2022, on extruder line 2 before the laser printer, guards were not in place to prevent employees from the in going nip point of the yellow wheel and a metal roller. f. On or before August 12, 2022, on extruder line 3 after the paint booth, guards were not in place to prevent employees from the in going nip point of the moving orange wheel and a fixed metal block. g. On or before August 12, 2022 on extruder line 4 before the paint booth, the doors were open exposing employees to moving parts and ingoing nip points. h. On or before August 12, 2022, guards were not in place to prevent employees from getting into the pinch point of the clamp on the Zwick Roell testing machine in the lab.
