29 CFR  1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A):29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)[A]: The employer did not prohibit a tight-fitting facepiece to be worn by employees who had facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face:  a) Compartment 02-79-2 on the USS Iwo Jima at GD NASSCO shipyard: On 8/16/22 and times prior thereto, employees were observed  performing work using a tight-fitting respirator, without being prohibited from having a beard interfering with the respirator's seal.

29 CFR  1915.53(d)(1):In an enclosed space, all surfaces covered with toxic preservatives were not stripped of all toxic coatings for a distance of at least 4 inches from the area of heat application:  a) Compartment 01-73-1-L on the USS Iwo Jima at GD NASSCO shipyard: On 8/16/22 and times prior thereto, employees performed welding operations in an enclosed space without removing at least 4 inches of green epoxy primer, resulting in visible scorched marks and the release of toxic compounds from the primer.
