Employees engaged in meat packing operations at 490 Road 9, Schuler, Nebraska, were exposed to tripping hazards. This was most recently documented on October 5th, 2022. Employees path of travel exposed them to three protruding bolts above the walking working surface in the jackpot area.

1910.147(d)(2) Machine or equipment shutdown. The machine or equipment shall be turned off or shut down using the procedures established for the machine or equipment. An orderly shutdown must be utilized to avoid any additional or increased hazard(s) to employees as a result of the equipment stoppage. Employees engaged in maintenance operations at 490 Road 9, Schuyler, Nebraska, were exposed to an amputation hazard in that the lid on the 180 cabinet fell when house water was introduced into the cabinet due to the machine/equipment not being turned off and shut down.

Employees engaged in maintenance operations at 490 Road 9, Schuyler, Nebraska, were exposed to scolding hazards. This was most recently documented on or about October 5th, 2022. The employer failed to conduct periodic inspections on the 180 cabinet located in the basement of the harvest floor for 3rd shift employees.

Compressed air shall not be used for cleaning purposes except where reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and then only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment. Employees engaged in meat packing operations at 490 Road 9, Schuler, Nebraska, were exposed to infusion hazards in that employees were using unregulated compressed air to clean the conveyor belts in the hamburger mezzanine production area. The unregulated compressed air in use was over 60 PSI.
