29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use:  Employees engaged in mechanical maintenance activities in the maintenance shop were exposed to corrosive hazards. Employees utilize Motor Medic brake fluid and Interstate batteries filled with sulfuric battery acid in that a suitable eye wash was not available. Eye exposure to these corrosive chemicals can result in serious eye damage that can be irreversible. The safety data sheets (SDSs) for these chemicals require at least 15 minutes of water to rinse the eyes in the event of eye exposure.

29 CFR  1910.1200(e)(1):The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met:  Employees engaged in mechanical maintenance and welding activities in the maintenance shop utilizing hazardous chemicals were exposed to health hazards in that a written Hazard Communication Program had not been developed or implemented to address the use of hydraulic fluid, engine oil, battery acid electrolyte, and acetylene gas, which all four can cause eye injuries.  Additionally, oxygen, which can act as an accelerant during a fire.

29 CFR  1910.1200(h)(1):Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area:   Employees engaged in mechanical maintenance and welding activities in the maintenance shop utilizing hazardous chemicals were exposed to health hazards in that they were not provided training for hydraulic fluid, engine oil, battery acid electrolyte, and acetylene gas, which all four can cause eye injuries.
