1926.652(e)(2)(ii) Installation of a support system was not closely coordinated with the excavation of trenches: (a) Excavation at the Jobsite - Employees worked in the excavation, which had a minimum depth of 7.5 feet. Top side employees removed the access/egress ladder and laid it along the top curb side, and during this time, the excavation had no other safe means of egress, exposing the employees to getting trapped in the event of a cave-in or other hazardous situation, on or about November 3, 2022. No abatement certification or documentation required.

29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): (a) Excavation at the Jobsite - Employees worked in the excavation, which had a minimum depth of 7.5 feet, dug in Type B soil, to install a new sanitary sewer manhole and associated piping. This excavation did not have any protective system, exposing the employees to a cave-in hazard, on or about November 3, 2022. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
