29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a): Mixing Department - Twin Arm Mixers - One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator from hazards created from the pinch point between the rotating mixing bowls and the cover above. Each mixer has a cover that is mechanically lowered to make contact with the rotating mixing bowl. An employee suffered a finger tip amputation when her finger was caught in between the mixing bowl and the cover above, on or about November 8, 2022. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
