29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  (a): Facility - MIWE oven area elevator - One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator from hazards created from rotating gears, belts, and pulleys. An employee suffered a laceration and finger skin avulsion when his finger was caught in the rotating elevator wheel, on or about April 16, 2024.   There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.    (b): Facility - MIWE oven area elevator floor - One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator from hazards created from rotating gears, belts, and pulleys. Employees were exposed to caught-in hazards from a rotating gear and pulley system located on the floor, on or about April 18, 2024.   Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).    C.H. Guenther & Son was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1632621, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on May 23, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 447 Gotham Parkway, Carlstadt, NJ 07072.
