29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Reference: ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eyewash and Shower Standard 5.4.4 The eyewash unit shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit the immediate use of the equipment. Battery Charging Area: On and/or before November 22, 2022, employees encountered corrosive materials such as sulfuric acid during forklift battery charging operations and spill cleanup procedures. The plumbed eye wash station next to the charging station was blocked by a Genie GR-20 Vertical Lift and potentially exposed employees to eye burns or blindness.
