29 CFR  1910.1025(m)(1)(i):Chemical manufacturers, importers, distributors and employers shall comply with all requirements of the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) (� 1910.1200) for lead.  On or about January 9, 2023, Sloan Valve Company did not comply with all the requirements of the Hazard Communication Standard � 1910.1200 for lead. The machine operators, Advanced Technology Service (ATS) mechanics, and cleaning crew were not notified of the possible exposure to lead on surfaces in the machine shop area. During the walkthrough, lead was identified on the surface of the New Britain Machines number 1031,1121,775.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.

29 CFR  1910.1025(m)(1)(ii): In classifying the hazards of lead at least the following hazards are to be addressed: Reproductive/developmental toxicity; central nervous system effects; kidney effects; blood effects; and acute toxicity effects.   On or about January 9, 2023, Sloan Valve Company did not classify the hazards of lead. The machine operators, Advanced Technology Service (ATS) mechanics, and cleaning crew were not aware of the presence of lead on the surfaces of rod machines in the machine shop area. During the walkthrough, lead was identified on the surface of multiple New Britain Machines at the machine shop area using a rapid detection kit, and the surface concentration was later confirmed via ghost wipe sampling. The hazard communication program provided by the company does not discuss the health effects associated with lead exposure.   In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
