29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: At the worksite located at 14940 Thunderbird Road, Kansas City MO, employees were exposed to nip point hazards on a mobile conveyor used to move parts from a machine into boxes, when one or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect employees from the chain and sprocket located at the bottom of the conveyor that drives the belt. This resulted in hospitalization and finger amputation. This was documented on or about 1-18-2023.
