OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burns and other related injuries from contact with hot steam pipes: a.) International Timber & Veneer, LLC, located at 75 McQuiston Dr, Jackson Center, PA 16133: On or about 4/28/2023, the employer did not ensure boiler operator employees were protected from severe burn hazards due to potential contact with non-insulated or unguarded metal steam pipes. The metal steam pipe temperature measured up to 208.0 degrees Fahrenheit during boiler blowdown and ran horizontally approximately 6 feet above the walking/working surface alongside the wood feed end of the Hurst combination boiler. b.) International Timber & Veneer, LLC, located at 75 McQuiston Dr, Jackson Center, PA 16133: On or about 4/28/2023, the employer did not ensure boiler operator employees were protected from severe burn hazards due to potential contact with non-insulated or unguarded metal steam pipes. The metal steam pipe temperature measured up to 281.0 degrees Fahrenheit and ran vertically on the side of the Hurst gas boiler within approximately 6 feet of the walking/working area. c.) International Timber & Veneer, LLC, located at 75 McQuiston Dr, Jackson Center, PA 16133: On or about 4/28/2023, the employer did not ensure boiler operator employees were protected from severe burn hazards due to potential contact with non-insulated or unguarded metal steam pipes. The metal steam pipe temperature measured up to 190.0 degrees Fahrenheit and ran horizontally on the side of the Hurst gas boiler within approximately 6 feet of the walking/working area. d.) International Timber & Veneer, LLC, located at 75 McQuiston Dr, Jackson Center, PA 16133: On or about 4/28/2023, the employer did not ensure boiler operator employees were protected from severe burn hazards due to potential contact with non-insulated or unguarded metal steam pipes. The metal steam pipe temperature measured up to 298.0 degrees Fahrenheit and ran vertically on the side of the control panel below the deaerator tank within approximately 6 feet of the walking/working area walking/working area. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation. This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. IN ADDITION, abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic, or video evidence or abatement or other written records.

Chain and Sprocket located approximately 3 feet above the ground. A paper/plastic bag was used to cover the entirety of the eyewash station. The bag could potentially obstruct use of the eyewash station during an emergency. NO ABATEMENT REQUIRED
