29 CFR 1910.138(a):Appropriate hand protection was not used when employee's hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. Grinding Area: On or about November 1, 2023, employees were exposed to hazardous chemicals that came into contact with their skin when NOVAMET 875 coolant, a dermal irritant containing a 50 - 60 % aliphatic petroleum naphtha mixture, was used without protective gloves while grinding workpieces.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: Facility-wide: On or about May 10, 2023, the employer failed to provide training on the hazardous risks of handling chemicals used and stored at the site that included, but were not limited to, the dermal irritant NOVAMET 875 coolant, which was regularly used in machines that employees operated.
