29 CFR  1910.212(a)(2): Machine guard(s) on machine(s) were so installed that they offered accident hazards in themselves:   a) Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857, Small Molding Area: On or about 05/18/2023 and at times prior thereto,  the expanded metal guard on the  Mitchel 8-ton press #14  had sharp edges at the top, side, and bottom which created potential laceration hazards.

29 CFR  1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s):  a)  Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857, Small Molding Area: On or about 05/18/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees were working at and around the Gasbarre 30-ton press #77 (serial #91440) which did not have adequate machine guarding in place to prevent employees from reaching over the existing guard and contacting the point of operation.  b) Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857, Small Molding Area: On or about 05/18/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees were working at and around the Mitchel 8-ton press #14 which did not have adequate machine guarding in place to prevent employees from reaching over the existing guard and contacting the point of operation.  Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1603837, citation number 1-1-b, item numbers (a &b) and was affirmed as a final order on 09-08-2022, with respect to a workplace located at 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857.

29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:   a)  Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857, Small Molding Area: On or about 05/18/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees were working at and around the Gasbarre 30-ton press #77 (serial #91440) which did not have effective machine guarding in place to prevent employees from contacting moving parts. The moving parts included, but were not limited to, sliding arm, hydraulic cylinder, and associated linkage.    b) Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857, Small Molding Area: On or about 05/18/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees were working at and around the Mitchel 8-ton press #14 which did not have guarding in place to prevent employees from contacting moving parts. The moving parts included, but were not limited to, cam, roller, and associated linkages.  Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1603837, citation number 1-1-a, item numbers (a &b) and was affirmed as a final order on 09-08-2022, with respect to a workplace located at 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857.

Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc., 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857: On or about 05/18/2023 and at times prior thereto,  the employer failed during calendar year 2022, to electronically submit information from their OSHA Form 300A or equivalent by 03/02/2023. The establishment employed 225 employees and is classified 332117 Powder Metallurgy Part Manufacturing during calendar year 2022.  Eastern Sintered Alloys Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1904.41(a)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1603842, citation number 2-1, item number (a) and was affirmed as a final order on 09-08-2022, with respect to a workplace located at 126 Access Road Saint Mary's, PA 15857.
