29 CFR  1910.134(e)(1):The employer did not provide a medical evaluation to determine the employee's ability to use a respirator before the employee was fit tested or required to use the respirator in the workplace:  On or about July 20, 2023, employees were exposed to respiratory stressors associated with being allowed to voluntarily wear the Viking Powered Air Purifying Respirator with Welding Helmet when welding on carbon steel pipe.  Employees are wearing the respirator to protect from exposure to welding fumes when welding on carbon steel or galvanized metal during manual welding and automatic welding.  The employees were not medically evaluated to determine the employee's ability to use a respirator before the employee is fit tested, or required to use the respirator in the workplace.  There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item corrected during inspection.

29 CFR  1910.1200(h)(1):Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets.  NAP1 & NAP2: On or about November 14, 2023, Viking Fabrication services, LLC did not provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards or specific chemicals.  Employees were not trained on the health hazards of welding on material containing chromium.  Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
