29 CFR 1910.95(b)(1): When employees were subjected to sound exceeding those listed in Table G-16, feasible administrative or engineering controls were not utilized: (a) 1600 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press operator was exposed to occupational noise at 622.9% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 90 dBA at the 90 dB criterion level) during the 486 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 103.2 dBA. Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not utilized to reduce sound levels. (b) 1600 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press upsetter was exposed to occupational noise at 501.3% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 90 dBA at the 90 dB criterion level) during the 487 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 101.6 dBA. Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not utilized to reduce sound levels. (c) 1300 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press operator was exposed to occupational noise at 482.1% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 90 dBA at the 90 dB criterion level) during the 497 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 101.3 dBA. Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not utilized to reduce sound levels. (d) 1300 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press upsetter was exposed to occupational noise at 207.3% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 90 dBA at the 90 dB criterion level) during the 314 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 95.2 dBA. Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not utilized to reduce sound levels.

29 CFR 1910.95(c)(1): The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program as described in 29 CFR 1910.9(c) through (o) whenever employee noise exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average sound level of 85 decibels measured on the A scale, or equivalently a dose of fifty percent: (a) 1600 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press operator was exposed to occupational noise at 627.7% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 85 dBA at the 80 dB criterion level) during the 486 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 103.2 dBA. The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program to protect employees from hearing loss. (b) 1600 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press upsetter was exposed to occupational noise at 509.6% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 85 dBA at the 80 dB criterion level) during the 487 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 101.7 dBA. The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program to protect employees from hearing loss. (c) 1300 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press operator was exposed to occupational noise at 493.8% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 85 dBA at the 80 dB criterion level) during the 497 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 101.5 dBA. The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program to protect employees from hearing loss. (d) 1300 Press: On August 9, 2023, the press upsetter was exposed to occupational noise at 210.4% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 85 dBA at the 80 dB criterion level) during the 314 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 95.3 dBA. The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program to protect employees from hearing loss. (e) Shear: On August 9, 2023, the shear operator was exposed to occupational noise at 145.7% of the permissible daily noise exposure (eight hour time weighted average of 85 dBA at the 80 dB criterion level) during the 403 minute sampling period. For a full eight hour shift this would be equivalent to an average sound level of 92.7 dBA. The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program to protect employees from hearing loss.
