29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1):Space about electric equipment. Sufficient access and working space shall be provided and maintained about all electric equipment to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment: On or about August 9, 2023, the employer exposed employees to electrical and fire hazards, in that three electrical panels (identified as panels L-1, L-2, H-1) and two electrical disconnect switches in the rear storage area had been blocked by stacks of merchandise, rolling carts, and trash cans. The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1650103, citation number 2, item number1, and was affirmed as a final order on 3/22/23, with respect to a workplace located at Hickam Exchange, Hawaii. The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1522866, citation number 1, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on 5/19/22, with respect to a workplace located at Presidio of Monterey Main Store, California. 29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1):The employer shall provide portable fire extinguishers and shall mount, locate and identify them so that they are readily accessible to employees without subjecting the employees to possible injury: a) Rear storage area next to electrical panel L-1: On or about August 9, 2023, the employer exposed employees to fire hazards, in that a fire extinguisher was not identified to inform the employees of the location in case of an emergency. b) Rear area of the sales floor, near manager's office: On or about August 9, 2023, the employer exposed employees to fire hazards, in that a fire extinguisher was not identified to inform the employees of the location in case of an emergency.
