Each disconnecting means required by this subpart for motors and appliances shall be legibly marked to indicate its purpose, unless located and arranged so the purpose is evident. Each service, feeder, and branch circuit, at its disconnecting means or overcurrent device, shall be legibly marked to indicate its purpose, unless located and arranged so the purpose is evident. These markings shall be of sufficient durability to withstand the environment involved. a) Naval Facilities Engineering Command located at 1000 Kitty Hawk Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19112 - On or about August 16, 2023, employees were performing electrical work, in which breakers in the controlling electrical panel were either mislabeled, not labeled or illegible. The employer did not ensure that each breaker on an electrical panel was clearly marked.

Equipment or circuits that are deenergized shall be rendered inoperative and shall have tags attached at all points where such equipment or circuits can be energized. a) Naval Facilities Engineering Command located at 1000 Kitty Hawk Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19112 - On or about August 16, 2023, employees were replacing the lighting within a room undergoing renovation. The employer did not ensure that the electrical breaker panel that controlled the lights was locked out and tagged out prior to electrical work being performed by an employee.

29 CFR 1926.416(a)(1):No employer shall permit an employee to work in such proximity to any part of an electric power circuit that the employee could contact the electric power circuit in the course of work, unless the employee is protected against electric shock by deenergizing the circuit and grounding it or by guarding it effectively by insulation or other means. a) Naval Facilities Engineering Command located at 1000 Kitty Hawk Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19112 - On or about August 16, 2024, an employee was installing a light fixture in the ceiling of a room under renovation. The employer did not ensure that circuit was deenergized prior to performing the work exposing the employee to shock and electrocution hazards.
