29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: a) Building N-25, Naval Station Norfolk: On or about 10/13/2023, employees accessed an unguarded roof to load HVAC units and installed them without fall protection. Note: Where certain conditions are met, the use of a warning line 15 feet back from the edge will be considered a de minimis violation of the guardrail criteria in �1926.502(b). The conditions that must be met for the application of this policy are as follows: 1. A warning line is used 15 feet or more from the edge; 2. The warning line meets or exceeds the requirements in �1926.502(f)(2); 3. No work or work-related activity is to take place in the area between the warning line and the edge; and 4. The employer effectively implements a work rule prohibiting the employees from going past the warning line. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
