29 CFR 1910.36(a)(2): Each exit was not separated by fire resistant materials. Construction materials used to separate an exit from other parts of the workplace did not have a one-hour fire resistance-rating: On or about October 24, 2023, the double doors located in the meat department were not constructed of fire resistance materials rated for at least an hour. Employees who use the doors to gain access to the exit route were potentially exposed to smoke and other fire hazards in that, the double doors were not designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke in the event of an (fire) emergency.

29 CFR 1910.37(a)(4): Safeguard(s) designed to protect employees during an emergency (e.g., sprinkler systems, alarm systems, fire doors, exit lighting), were not in proper working order at all times: On or about October 24, 2023, a set of double doors located in the meat department and led to second door leading to the exit discharge were defective in that, the doors were sticking and required a lot of force to open. Although the double doors were marked "Exit", they were not fire rated. In the event of an (fire) emergency, employees using this direction of travel to exit the facility could potentially be exposed to smoke and/or fire hazards because the condition of the doors would impede easy access to the exit.
