29 CFR  1926.302(b)(6): The use of hoses for hoisting or lowering tools was permitted.   a- 8 Penelope Lane, Middletown NJ - On or about 11/09/23 workers lowered air nailers, from the pitched, partially shingled roof of a two story residential structure to the ground surface below using the air hoses they were connected to.  NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR  1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed:   a- 8 Penelope Lane, Middletown NJ: Workers were exposed to fall hazards, in excess of 12 feet 1 inch to the ground surface below, when accessing and egressing a residential structure's pitched porch roof using an fiberglass ladder whose siderails did not extend at least 3 feet above the landing surface being accessing. Condition observed on or about 11/09/23.

These workers had not received training that would have allowed them to recognize hazards related to ladders and the procedures to be followed to minimize these hazards.
