29 CFR  1910.219(f)(3): Sprockets and chains. All sprocket wheels and chains shall be enclosed unless they are more than seven (7) feet above the floor or platform. Where the drive extends over other machine or working areas, protection against falling shall be provided. This subparagraph does not apply to manually operated sprockets.  a. On or about December 12, 2023, and days prior, employees were exposed to caught-in hazards in the Cut Shop at the orange Northtech saw line while conducting wood-cutting tasks. The employer did not ensure the rotating sprocket and chain at the bottom of the orange side guard were guarded, exposing employees to caught-in hazards.  b. On or about December 12, 2023, and days prior, employees were exposed to caught-in hazards in the Cut Shop at the blue Brewco triple saw loading area while conducting wood-cutting tasks. The employer did not ensure the conveyor's rotating sprocket and chain were guarded, exposing employees to caught-in hazards.  Pallet Distributors Inc. DBA ePallet Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard 29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1558518, citation number 1, item number 10 and was affirmed as a final order on February 07, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at 10143 Copperhead Road NW, Sugarcreek, Ohio 44681.
