1910.272(j)(1) The employer shall develop and implement a written housekeeping program that establishes the frequency and method(s) determined best to reduce accumulations of fugitive grain dust on ledges, floors, equipment, and other exposed surfaces. Employees were exposed to grain and grain dust discovered on the distributor due to a hole in the grain spout.

29 CFR 1910.272(k):Receiving pit feed openings in the grain handling facility, such as truck or railcar receiving pits, were not covered by grates which had a maximum opening width of 2.5 inches: Employees were exposed to explosive hazards in that the entry side of the pit grate was measured at 3.5 inches which could allow fugitive metal products to infiltrate the leg location.
