In the production area, employee(s) engaged in erosion blanket manufacturing activities were exposed to fire hazards in that combustible straw dust was accumulated over 2 inches in height in and around the following ignition sources.:  1. 480v transformer adjacent to the fire suppression system along the northeast wall 2. MST Wattle Machine at the conveyor area

29 CFR  1910.1200(e)(1):The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met:  In the production area, employees are exposed to chemical related hazards in that they utilize chemicals including but not limited to brake cleaner and WD-40 and a written hazard communication program has not been developed. According to the safety data sheets, WD-40 and brake cleaner are  highly flammable liquids and vapors, causes serious eye irritation, may cause drowsiness or dizziness and may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure.

29 CFR  1910.1200(g)(8):   The employer did not maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical, and did not ensure that they were readily accessible during each work  shift to employees when they were in their work area(s)   In the production area, employees performing CNC machining activities were exposed to hazardous chemicals including but not limited to brake clean and WD-40, which are  highly flammable liquids and vapors, causes serious eye irritation, may cause drowsiness or dizziness and may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. Employees were exposed to these hazards because the employer did not make safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical readily accessible during each work shift.
