Employees were using an extension ladder for roof access at the front of the home that extended 12 inches beyond the eave and was not secured with a grasping device, exposing the employees to falls up to 11 feet.

Employees were performing framing work using a pneumatic nail gun/circular saw without eye protection on the roof of a residential home at heights over 11 feet without fall protection connected and using an improperly configured ladder for roof access thereby exposing the employees to falls and struck-by hazards.   RJ Construction LLC  was previously cited for a serious violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard 1926.20(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1683120, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on October 11, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 771 Francis Drive, HEATH, OH 43056.

Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. Employees installing roof sheathing on a new construction multi-story residential home at heights over 11 feet were not utilizing fall protection thereby exposing the employees to falls over 11 feet.   RJ Construction LLC  was previously cited for a serious violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1683120, citation number 1, item number 4 and was affirmed as a final order on October 11, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 771 Francis Drive, HEATH, OH 43056.
