29 CFR 1910.132(f)(2): The employer did not require employees to demonstrate an understanding of the training specified in paragraph (f)(1) of this section, and the ability to use PPE properly, before being allowed to perform work requiring the use of PPE: a) Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek Commissary: On or about March 25, 2024, an employee(s) required to tie off and eject a bale from a baler was not properly trained and provided with gloves, and as a result, sustained an injury to the right thumb. Note: 1. The employer must train each affected employee in the manner required by the standard, and each failure to train an employee may be considered a separate violation. 2. The employer must provide PPE to each employee required to use the PPE, and each failure to provide PPE to an employee may be considered a separate violation. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
