29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Trimmer Table Area: On April 23, 2024, and times prior, employees conducting cleaning were exposed to a nip point between the end live roller and a piece of metal on the bench roller. The employer did not ensure machine guarding was in place to protect employees from the nip point on the live roller. The Dingess Lumber Company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its equivalent, Standard 29 CFR 1910.212 (a)(1), which is contained in OSHA inspection number 1427283, Citation number 1, Item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on October 22, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 6151 Barbour County Highway, Belington, WV 26250.
