29 CFR  1910.178(g)(2): Battery charging apparatus for industrial trucks located in battery changing and charging installation was not protected from damage by trucks:  On or about May 7, 2024, employees engaged in warehousing activities in the Pierce Building of Neogen Corporation located at 4616 Pierce Drive, Lincoln, Nebraska were exposed to potential electrocution and electrical shock hazards in that the employer has located the ENERGIC Plus battery charger on the operating floor without physical protection from incidental contact with the forklift.  The operator is parking the forklift within 1 foot of the ENERGIC Plus during recharge.

Instances of trucks operated in unsafe condition included but were not limited to:  i. Crown sit down forklift with exposed wiring at top, front light (as viewed from the front), and ii. Yale sit down forklift with severe deterioration cracking on the outer rubber layer of the mast hydraulic hose.
