29 CFR 1910.213(s)(13): Whenever veneer slicers or rotary veneer-cutting machines have been shut down for the purpose of inserting logs or to make adjustments, operators shall make sure that machine is clear and other workmen are not in a hazardous position before starting the machine: a) Capital Slicer Area- On or about June 11, 2024, employees working in area of the Capital slicer were exposed to struck-by hazards from the slicer being operated while employees are exposed to the unguarded point of operation of the machine. b) Half Round Slicer Area- On or about June 11, 2024, employees working in area of the half round slicer were exposed to struck-by hazards from the slicer being operated while employees are exposed to the unguarded rotating log on a shaft while it is being sliced.
